Early Life in Christ: Campus Edition (2)

Welcome back to the Early Life in Christ: Campus Edition series!

So far, we have explored What I Wish I knew Before Starting University and discussed key advises for new students and returning students stepping into this exciting journey. Today, we are diving into a topic that every student looks forward to.

We will be looking at A day In the Life Of a University Student.

As the new semester approaches, many of us are preparing for the university hustle. Whether you are returning to campus or just starting your university journey, it is normal to feel both excited and a little anxious about what lies ahead. In this next installment of the NAVIGATING UNIVERSITY LIFE series, I am taking you through a typical day in the life of a university student because sometimes, knowing what to expect can make all the difference. Let us dive in!!

Ever wondered what a typical day in the life of a university student really looks like? As a current student myself, I have navigated through early mornings, tight schedules and late-night study sessions. For some, this also includes the added rhythm of chapel services or other spiritual commitments. Whether you are a fresher or a student returning to campus, each day brings its own rhythm, that is, a blend of lectures, socializing, and the occasional scramble of meet deadlines. If you are curious about what a typical day might look like, especially with the unique touch of spirituality, read up on this post as it provides a lot of knowledge.

6:00 AM - Early Morning Routine

My day starts at 6:00 AM with a quick meditation. Afterward, I dive into my morning routine; getting ready for morning devotion that is to kick off the following hour.

7:00 AM - Chapel Service

By 7:00 AM, I am at the chapel for morning service. This is a cherished part of my routine, although it can be stressful at times, having to wake so early to catch up with the appointed time. However, it helps provide a peaceful start before the busy day unfolds. The service usually includes worship, a brief sermon and a chance to connect with fellow students. This service is usually held for an hour.

8:00 AM - Preparation for Lectures

This is usually an interlude between chapel service and lecture time. I use this hour to get ready for a tight schedule and piled up classes. Lectures start by 9:00 AM and ends when it ends. If you are unlucky, you might probably not get to be in the comfort of your room from 9:00 AM till 7:00 PM, so it is advisable to just pick up everything you will need for classes so as not to seem unprepared.

9:00 AM - Morning Classes

After chapel, it is time to shift gears and head to my first class. Mornings are usually packed with lectures and I make it a point to stay engaged and take notes in class. Whether it is a thought-provoking discussion in a communication theory class or diving into media studies, I try to absorb as much as I can to make studying easier later.

12:00 PM - Class Continues

If you are looking forward to seeing the time for lunch break, then you must have not been in a university yet. Well, I cannot say for other universities but as for the university I attend, classes are always choked up and there is more or less NO BREAK TIME. Classes run through till 5:00 PM for some days and 7:00 PM for some other days.

7:00 PM - Chapel Meeting and Fellowship

After classes, I attend a chapel meeting. This is a great time to connect with GOD. Evening devotion comprises of prayers, worship and a brief sermon. This usually holds for an hour or an hour and thirty minutes.

8:30 PM - Dinner and Relaxation

This is the time to have dinner and some downtime. I usually eat and hang out with friends or call family. This part of the day is crucial for reconnecting with my support system. After dinner and a little bit of frivolity that comes in form of watching movie, I relax.

11:00 PM - Night Routine and Reflection

Before bed, I reflect on how the day went and my goal for the next day. I also take this time for journaling, which helps me wind down and end the day on a positive note.

Navigating University life with chapel activities requires a balance of time management, dedication, determination and a clear sense of priorities. It is not always easy but integrating spiritual commitments with academics and personal life can bring a unique sense of fulfillment and purpose. Whether you are involved in chapel activities or exploring your own path, finding what grounds you is key to thriving during your university journey.

I hope this glimpse into my daily life has provided some insights and inspiration for your own university experience. Whether you are just starting out or well into your studies, remember to embrace each day with an open mind and a positive attitude. Rejoice in each moment.
